MK July 17
From the Editor
It’s July folks. Yay! With exams over and the summer holidays just around the corner there is a feeling of happiness in the air. While families get to spend some quality time together, those commuting to work will confidently hit the snooze button just a few more times, safe in the knowledge there will be far less traffic on the roads. For six weeks at least.
Inside we have all the usual news, views and stories from across Milton Keynes. Both Milton Keynes MPs were re-elected on 8th June and let us know what they have been up to since. While fashion expert Cindy Hudson, selects her top styles to make sure you’re on trend if you’re visiting any festivals this year.
Jobs in the garden are very much centred around the sunshine as David Willams offers expert advice on coping with the soaring temperatures (and if June is anything to go by, you're going to need to take his advice!).
If you love to spend lazy days sipping a gin or two while listening to live music then this month's competition should be right up your street. We have ten sets of Family Tickets up for grabs to Betsey Wynne's Swanbourne Music Festival in August where Toploader will be headlining. One extra-lucky winner will be invited backstage to meet the band before their set and presented with a bottle of Swanbourne Estate Gin courtesy of The Betsey Wynne! It sounds amazing so make sure you enter (see page 61).
Continuing with his monthly articles, Steve Clarke invites readers to enjoy a day out with the Hapton horses. Redwings, the UK’s largest horse sanctuary, will be welcoming members of the general public to visit its Norfolk headquarters this month for an exclusive look behind the scenes. You are welcome to join the Redwings team and the equine residents in their care on Sunday 23rd July for a day of tours, demonstrations, food and fun at Hapton, just south of Norwich. Although Redwings has five Visitor Centres across the UK, it is only on special occasions that Hapton is open to the public, so the special Open Day has been eagerly anticipated by supporters across the country (see page 32).
There is lots going on around the county this month. One event that mustn’t be missed is the Newport Pagnell Carnival on the weekend of 8th–9th July (see page 55 for more details).
Enjoy July everyone and don’t forget sunscreen #LessonLearnedFromJune...
