MK November 2015
From the Editor
This morning I saw an advert on one of the popular social media sites from a local newspaper; It was titled ‘UK headed for the coldest and longest winter ever’. Truth is, I am not sure if I believe them – even if a certain Bewick's Swan disagrees! Nevertheless, the mornings are certainly getting colder and by the time this edition lands on your doormat, the nights will be darker too. Boo!
On the plus side however, Christmas is just around the corner and you now have the latest edition of MK Pulse Magazine! So sit back and relax while we bring you all the news, views and gossip from around the county.
Inside this month the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Keith McLean tells us what he’s been up to (page 26) and similarly the city’s MPs Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart write their monthly goings-on on page 61.
Arts Gateway MK's article is on Lost Venues – a fabulous read, John Best reflects on how arts and culture in MK has altered over time and how it has evolved with its ever-changing environment. It makes you think differently about some of our fabulous buildings and spaces and is well worth the read. See page 72.
We have some great competitions inside this edition, ranging from a whopping £300 spending spree at the brand new North Face store in intu, CMK (I think the aforementioned Swan would recommend their cold gear!) to a Supercar Driving Experience at Silverstone (A handy Christmas present me thinks!). It’s a cliché but ‘you have to be in it to win it’, so make sure you enter – anyone of you could win!
A BIG congratulations to MKFM who not only received their FM licence this year, they have now opened up posh new offices inside intu. If you walk past their studio you can sometimes see them on air and why would you not want to visit? After all you can pick up a copy of MK Pulse there, as they are only one of our newly appointed drop-off points.
If you don’t get a chance to visit check them out on Periscope from time to time – it’s a fab way of interacting with them!
Ok so I best sign off and let you read the magazine – please do get in touch if you have anything to contribute for our December edition and remember to keep in touch with us on Social Media – @PulseMagazines on Twitter and Pulse Magazine on Facebook.
