NN August 16
From the Editor
Welcome to our August edition. As I write this month’s letter Summer feels like it is already in full swing and I swear you could fry an egg on the ground. But it’s only Monday and as this is the UK, by the time the weekend arrives the clouds will probably start to gather. If you’re taking the family away during the Summer holidays, I hope you enjoy the break. If you’re staying local there are lots of ideas throughout the magazine and in the What’s On section for entertaining the children.
For the latest Summer fashion make sure you check out Cindy’s best picks for A Very British Summer. Simple checks and floral prints are in, as well as versatile clothes to cater for all weather conditions. Let’s face it, this is Britain!
In the Motoring section this month, Tim Saunders test drives the new Jeep Cherokee, while Adam Tudor-Lane soaks up a classic Rolls Royce Camargue; the most expensive car of its time.
The romantically beautiful gardens at Canons Ashby are decorated with more than flowers, plants and trees. Since the early 18th century the Dryden family has proudly displayed their family crest all around the house, garden and church. The heraldic symbols include a lion rampant complete with sticking out tongue, often holding a golden sphere in its right paw. We take a closer look at the house and gardens and discover just how many lions lurk within its walls.
I must say, it really has been a turbulent few months – not only for UK home affairs, but also further afield. Every news channel seems rammed with breaking news stories and it is hard to keep up – I just hope we don’t all become too complacent to the horrors that are happening all around us.
Have a great month folks and stay safe. See you all in September.
